Hi my name is Callan Rush and I’m here with another Workshop Wealth Tip.
This tip is all about what is generally known as Accelerated Learning…
So if you’re not familiar with that particular word, I’ll explain what Accelerated Learning is.
Have you ever been to a workshop and the person on stage is asking you to Hi-5 your neighbor and to repeat things back and fill in the blank and to say things back?
The purpose of these Neurolinguistic programming techniques is to actually make your learning experience more interactive.
A lot of people hate this and a lot of people use it.
So where do I stand on the issue?
My issue is that you absolutely must learn how to use Accelerated Learning from the stage and how to use Neurolinguistic programming from the stage…
But the trick with pulling it off and making sure it’s a win for you and a win for your audience is called SETTING THE CONTEXT.
So a lot of people will just get up on stage and start using all these techniques and asking their audience to Hi-5 and ask their audience to repeat things back but they won’t actually tell their audience ahead of time why they are doing it.
Then what happens in that the audience member who is being asked to do all these things starts to feel like a monkey that is being told to do tricks.
So what you want to do instead is set the context for Accelerated Learning.
You can set it up by letting your audience know that you will be using some things that will help them learn faster, remember more of what they learn, sustain their learning and be able to implement it in a practical way more easily.
Get their enrollment, explain what’s in it for them before you start using all these techniques.
And I think what you’ll find is they will be much more eager and enrolled to participate with you in the Accelerated Learning.
So that’s my Workshop Wealth Tip.
If you want to look below the video you’ll see there is a place for you to leave questions and comments.
If you’re interested to learn exactly how I language the permission when I’m asking for permission to use Accelerated Learning, go ahead and leave a comment below and I’ll tell you how I do it!
Until next time be brilliant!

Hi My name is Callan Rush and I’m here with another Workshop Wealth Tip….
The truth of the day is I am GRUMPY. I am a little down, a little low energy and I’m feeling really grumpy… I am supposed to be shooting this marketing video and connecting with the camera and be positive and passionate…
But I don’t feel like it today!
This Workshop Wealth Tip is all about Authentic Emotional Expression.
There was a time in the workshop and trainer industry where it was appropriate to get up on stage and stuff down whatever you were feeling inside. You know, suck it up and stuff it down and just perform and be happy and passionate no matter what was happening.
That’s NOT the way it is anymore…
People in your audience are craving authentic communication, truthful communication and they are craving authentic emotional expression.
So my tip for you is that no matter what you are feeling show your audience that. If you are telling a story and feel really moved… tell your audience that.
Even if you cry, show your audience what is going on – stay in connection with them as you feel your feelings and express them.
Maybe you are angry? Again… show your audience that! Just stay in connection with them.
Maybe you are feeling grumpy like I am.
Live out loud, let them know whats really going on for you. This way you are going to build trust, you are going to build rapport and you are going to be congruent.
Because at some level, if you try to mask those things, they are going to feel it anyway.
So feel your feelings, express them, live out loud and when you do that in the company of your audience you are going to feel better, they are going to feel better and everything is going to go smoother…
And you might even end up being in a better mood. I’m feeling better already!
So that’s your Workshop Wealth Tip for this week.
You’ll notice right below the video there is a place to leave a comment or a question so go ahead and do that.
If you have any questions at all about what is appropriate on stage or what isn’t appropriate on stage go ahead and leave it there and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
Until next time be brilliant!

This Workshop Wealth Tip is about Multiple Intelligence Theory. And it’s a theory you can use to design more effective workshops, seminars and retreats.
Multiple Intelligence Theory originated from a gentleman named Dr. Howard Gardner from Harvard University. And what Multiple Intelligence Theory states is that each one of us has certain natural aptitude for certain kinds of information.
So for example… Some people are just born with a gift for math. Some people are just naturally better with words and with reading and writing. Some people are just naturally gifted in how they move their bodies… Look at Micheal Jordon for example, he is a person who is very high in what they call Kinetics Intelligence, also known as body smart.
Now here’s the thing: most school systems and most teachers are only trained to teach in 3 of the intelligences… And as far as I know there are at least 10 intelligences that have been identified by Dr. Howard Gardner…
So the ones that are traditionally taught to in schools are the ones who are math smart (the kids that are good with numbers and arithmetic) there are word smart kids (kids that are good with reading and writing) and our body smart kids (kids that are athletes in school).
So 3 out of the 10 are being addressed in the school system.
What do you think happens to all the others who are high in the other intelligences? What happens is that they fall through the cracks of the school system and end up in the seats of your seminar room hoping that this time they’ll learn, that this time their natural talents will be recognized, this time they’ll actually feel successful in a learning environment.
So what does this mean for you? What this means is that when you are designing your seminars, you have to learn how to design curriculum that is engaging all 10 intelligences.
You have to make sure you’re using activities that are bringing up your people smart students, doing activities that are helping your music smart students, that you’re using activities that are engaging your nature smart students.
As I said there are then and I won’t name all 10 right now but you need to include Multiple Intelligence Theory in the design of your workshops. So if you have any other questions or comments or you want to know all ten please look below this video and leave your questions and comments.
Until next time be brilliant!

This Workshop Wealth Tip is for you is to make sure you always have a Ricola on the table beside you when you’re on stage.
When you are speaking a lot especially in air conditioned rooms (which can wreak havoc on your throat), it is inevitable you’ll get a dry throat, lose your voice or have a coughing fit…so it’s important to have some lozenges handy.
I always keep Ricola’s on the table beside me so if I need a bit of lubricant for my throat they are right there. I like Ricola brand because they’re herbal, not too sweet and do the trick every time to make my throat feel better and help me speak more clearly.
Also, it’s very important to have the package open ahead of time. The last thing you want during a coughing fit is to be fiddling with the package while coughing into the microphone!
I’d love to know what works for you to make sure that you’re voice is smooth and silky so leave your tips below.
Until next time be brilliant!

This Workshop Wealth Tip is about creating an for optimal learning environment.
My advice for you is to book a venue that doesn’t have windows. If the venue does have windows, make sure the curtains are closed when you’re on stage.
This is very counter-intuitive because you might think bright lights and open space are good for learning. However, when you are in a long workshop you want to keep people focused on the front of the room, on you and on learning. People’s attention starts to drift outside if the event room has windows and they are bright and open.
You can always open the windows during breaks but while you’re teaching it’s best to keep a the space contained and create an optimal learning environment.
If you have any other questions or you’re wondering about the appropriate choice of venues and how to design the space, please leave a comment below and I will get back to you as soon as I can!
Until next time be brilliant!

This Workshop Wealth Tip is about making your event room more homey.
My tip for you this week is to make sure that you always have live plants or live flowers at all of your events. We always have fresh bouquets of flowers placed around the room at our events (we love fresh roses).
As a workshop leader, most of your live events will take place in some kind of ballroom with crazy carpeting and air conditioning. So you want to be sure you bring something in that is lively, adds warmth and gives a feeling of home.
If you have any other strategies to make your events feel more warm and less like a “seminar” please leave you comments below.
Until next time be brilliant!

This Workshop Wealth Tip is all about safety…And first aid kits!
Safety Tip Part A- Make sure that you have a good solid fully stocked first aid kit at every event.
Safety Tip Part B – Make sure you keep your first aid kit in the same place at every single event and that your staff knows where the first aid kit is. This is very important so if there is some kind of emergency and you need to access it you don’t have to think “where is it???”
You’ll notice below there is a place where you can leave some comments so if you have any questions or comments about emergency procedures or anything like that please go ahead and ask. I’ll be sure to get back to you!
In the meantime get yourself a good first aid kit and be brilliant.

This is another video shot during a break at a recent edition of our 3-day Magnetize Your Audience event… where we help workshop and seminar leaders to effortlessly attract droves of their ideal clients to their workshops, seminars and retreats.
Whenever I’m on stage delivering a specific learning segment, I always use a script. This gives me a detailed guideline of what I’ll be convering. Of course, I’m not staring down at the script the entire time, but I do have it there so I always know where I’m at and I’m able to guide myself through the curriculum without missing anything.
One of the things that will happen as you create your workshops and as you lead them is that things will evolve! You’ll notice some things didnt work… you’ll notice some things that went really great… you might come up with a spontaneous joke that you want to remember so you can tell it again next time…
… anytime you come up with something, you want make sure to write it down in real-time because I guarantee as soon as you walk off-stage… you’ll forget!
So what I like to do is to have a bunch of sticky-notes right on my trainer’s table. I like the love-heart ones, though my business partner, Justin Livingston, prefers the plain ones
… but I’m all about the LOVE
I recommend you have these handy, so that anytime you have an insight or something comes up… you can jot down a quick note and stick that sucker right onto your script!
If you have any questions or comments about how to create your scripts or anything to do segment length or anything like that… please leave it below and I’ll be sure to get back to you shortly.
Until Next Time… BE BRILLIANT!

This Workshop Wealth Tip is going to help you achieve an Optimal Learning Environment in your workshops, retreats and seminars. One important piece is to keep you rooms on the cooler side.
I like to keep my workshops at 69F… any warmer and you might get into trouble with people losing their alertness level, and possibly even falling asleep
This video was shot during a break at a recent workshop of ours called Magnetize Your Audience. Its interesting that the very next weekend, we led the event again and there was an air-conditioner malfunction and the room was like an igloo all weekend long… that’s obviously not what we’re going for here, we don’t want people losing blood-flow to their fingers!
Again, I’ve found 69F to be the magic temperature to shoot for.
Please leave any questions or comments you have about room temperature or other matters pertaining to your event space.

This Workshop Wealth Tip is about the placement of your Water Station.
Its a big mistake to put your Water Station inside your event room. It can be a HUGE distraction with people’s glasses clanking and water being spilled, etc.
I highly recommend you provide a Water Station, for sure… just leave it outside the room. If you’re giving your participants ample break time, it won’t be a problem for them to keep themselves hydrated during those designated times.
If you have any questions regarding water, food, or anything about putting on your workshops, retreats and seminars… please leave it below and I’ll get back to you shortly.
